I’m a bit stuck here and was hoping to get some guidance. I managed to install my Metamask wallet not too long ago, and that’s working fine. But now I’m trying to connect a Ronin wallet with my Metamask to play Axie Infinity. It’s a bit more complex than I anticipated.

I did some reading, and from what I understand, I need to add Ronin network to my Metamask but I’m not quite sure how to configure it. To complicate matters, I’m very new to the whole cryptocurrency scene so the technical jargon can get a bit perplexing. So, for anyone who’s done it before, it’ll be really helpful if you could explain it in layman’s term.

I’m also curious about the security aspect of it. Like, is it safe to link both wallets and is there anything I need to be aware of when I’m doing it? I mean, I’ve heard some horror stories about similar situations where people’s wallets got drained overnight. That’s a scenario I don’t want to be in.

The last bit of help I need is about the Ronin wallet itself. I’ve downloaded the wallet but am a bit stuck on the setup part. So any advice or guidance on that would be highly appreciated. I want to make sure I’m doing it right to avoid any mishap in the future. Hopefully one of you guys can help me sort things out.

Sure, happy to help! First off, you need to add the Ronin network to Metamask. To do this, you’ll need to open your Metamask wallet, click on the network selection dropdown (it’s probably set to Ethereum Mainnet by default), and then click on ‘Custom RPC’. This will open a form where you’ll have to enter the Ronin network info – don’t worry, it’s just some basic stuff like network name, URL, chain ID, symbol etc. Now to your security concerns, yes, it’s generally safe to link your wallets. Just make sure you’re not sharing your private keys or seed phrases with anyone as that’s a surefire way to have your wallet drained. Lastly, setting up the Ronin wallet really isn’t too much of a hassle. You’ve already downloaded it which is great. From here, when you open it up, you’ll be asked to either import an existing Ethereum wallet or create a new one. If you choose to create a new one, you’ll be presented with a new seed phrase – make sure to jot this down and keep it a secret. Once you’ve done that, you’re pretty much all set!

Just to add on to what ‘podcaster’ has already mentioned, when you’re entering the Ronin network info into Metamask, you need to put in some specific details. For ‘Network Name’, type in ‘Ronin’. Under ‘New RPC URL’, enter ‘https://ronin.amberdata.io/’. For ‘Chain ID’, write ‘2020’, and under ‘Currency Symbol’, put in ‘RON’. The ‘Block Explorer URL’ is optional, but you can put in ‘https://explorer.roninchain.com/’. Make sure you enter these exactly as I’ve written for everything to work correctly.

Also, regarding your security concerns, absolutely never disclose your private keys or seed phrases to anyone. Always double-check any transaction before sending. If a transaction request seems off or unexpected, it’s a good idea to cancel it immediately. As for setting up your Ronin wallet, it sounds like ‘podcaster’ got it covered. All the best and happy gaming!

About the Ronin wallet setup, once you’ve written down your seed phrase (never lose it), it’s just a matter of setting your password. Choose one that’s strong and unique, and make sure you won’t forget it. Your wallet should now be set and ready to go! Hopefully, this additional clarity helps.

Regarding the safety of linking the two wallets, as mentioned, so long as you’re careful with your private key and seed phrase, it should be safe. Another precaution you could take is to enable two-factor authentication on your wallet accounts. But remember, nothing is 100% guaranteed in the digital world. You need to stay vigilant, frequently check your wallet and if you notice anything suspicious, take immediate action. This should give you an added layer of security.

I noticed you were worried about the security of linking your wallets. It’s not uncommon to be concerned given the risks in the digital world. Let’s remember to only link our wallets on official and trusted sites. For instance, the Axie Infinity marketplace is a reliable place to connect your Ronin and Metamask wallets. Always double check the website URL to ensure you’re not on a phishing site. Also, installing a reputable antivirus and antimalware software on your device can act as an extra layer of protection.

Due to inactivity, wallets can sometimes get disconnected. If you run into a situation where your Ronin wallet is not connecting with Metamask, try reconnecting them manually. Just click on the Metamask extension, go to ‘Connected Sites’, find the Ronin site, and disconnect it. After that, you can reconnect by signing a message from the Ronin side. Just be aware that if you have a lot of transactions in progress this might cause some minor interruptions, so it’s best to do it when you don’t have any trades pending.
